Producing more with less

Feed a growing world population

If we continue like today, two planet earths by 2050 are needed to feed a growing world population. Learn more on how we contribute to producing more food with less resources.

Because of advanced technological developments, today we already need far less resources to produce the same amount of meat, milk, eggs, fish and shrimp than fifty years ago.

Yet despite these efficiency gains, there's still room for improvement as the productivity of livestock and fish is still below its potential. On a global level, by as much as 30 to 40 percent.

Nutreco develops nutritional solutions that lower the feed conversion ratio. Or in simpler words, by improving feed efficiency we need less feed to produce the some amount of livestock or fish protein.

These advances result in a significant reduction of energy use, carbon footprint and land occupation per kilogram of milk, pig meat, broiler meat and fish.
